KK Raina’s Dedication to Director’s Vision: Nowadays, there are reports of rift between actors and directors, but there was a time in the Indian film industry when no actor could contradict the director. One of these actors is 71-year-old KK Raina, who has not seen this American film to date after his director refused.

Priyanka Singh, Mumbai Desk. The director is considered the captain of the actors. It is the actors’ job to follow him. Actor KK Raina respected director Ranjit Kapoor’s words in such a way that he has not seen the American film ’12 Angry Men’ to date.
Actually, a film ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ was made on this film in the year 1986, of which KK Raina is an important part. Now a remake of this film has been made.
Those who do drama do research first
When KK was asked whether cult films should be remade? To this, he said that you cannot make some things again. According to K.K. Raina, ‘No matter how many films are made, has anyone been able to make K. Asif’s ‘Mughal-e-Azam’?
I believe that some things are classics, and that is why they are called classics. Talking about ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisal’, when Ranjit (writer and director Ranjit Kapoor) Sahab asked me to do a play on it, I did not know that an American film had been made on it.
Those who do dramas have a habit of doing research before doing anything. Then I came to know that a film has been made on it. Ranjit Sahib told me not to watch that film. We were obedient actors, we said okay. I have not seen that film to date, because my director had forbidden me. He wanted me to look fresh and put my energy into that character.’
All the actors were given five thousand rupees
He further says, ‘When Basu (Chatterjee) da saw our play in Delhi, he was very happy. He said he wanted to make a film about it. Hearing his words, we all jumped with joy.
It was decided to give Rs. 5,000 to each actor. Basu da shot it in a very simple way. That simplicity kept the film alive. Now when I hear people praising that film, I feel that the beauty of the film is its simplicity and Indianness.
I don’t know what has been done differently in the remake film. The perspective should be new and different. Now, for example, I want to do the play ‘Ashaadh Ka Ek Din’ because I want to tell that story in a slightly different way. My perspective about that story is different. Such efforts can be made.
